A New Normal
So – it has been VERY long time since I blogged. This is due to a number of things, but mostly I just haven’t found the time in the day.
I am hoping to get back into the swing of things now – maybe just a few times a week – just enough to clear my mind and update family & friends on what is going on in our little world.
Since my last blog, our family has grown from 3 to 4! Thomas Joseph Nelson III (Tripp) was welcomed into our lives on January 7, 2010 at 2:47pm. He weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces and was 20 inches long. He was a little smaller than his sister, but that was because I chose to induce a week early (I was quite tired of being pregnant!). Tripp also shares a birthday with his cousin Brad who turned 4 the day he was born.
Tripp is now 5 weeks old and the best baby I have ever seen! Even in the hospital it was clear he would be more relaxed than his big sister was – for one thing, he slept by himself! 
He only fusses when he is hungry or sleepy – at night it gets worse because he’s crabby and doesn’t know what to do about it (I can relate). Overall he is a content little fella who is adored by all of us. Abby Ruth is especially smitten with her brother – she kisses him every chance she gets!
The transition to 2 kids has been a challenge, but not as bad as I anticipated. Finding time to rest during the day can be difficult; actually – finding time to do ANYTHING is difficult. At this moment they are both napping and I’m thinking of at least 10 things I could be doing instead of this… oh well – that’s just the season we’re in right now. The hardest part for me is seeing so many unfinished chores, and knowing they won’t be completed any time soon. 
For now, spending time with my little ones and relaxing in the evening with my husband are my top priorities, and if we have to grab clean clothes out of the dryer or deal with some extra dirt on the floor to do it – so be it!
Now – off to the kitchen, some dirty dishes are calling my name!

We celebrated Tripp’s 1 month birthday by going to a birthday party for one of Abby Ruth’s friends. In hindsight it is amazing we made it that far! January flew past us and was a complete whirlwind! My mom, Tom’s mom and a stomach bug all visited our house in that first month – but we survived! Here are some picture’s from Luke’s 2nd birthday! As you can see, Tripp was very excited – he was asked to settle down several times!
