Monthly update
I’m going to try to update about both of our littles today – but it might be a long blog! Abby Ruth is now 23 months old and Tripp is 3 months. I am enjoying both of them more than words can say; they are truly a joy to be with – I love my job!
(this picture was taken at Easter – both kids just had their monthly birthdays)
Abby Ruth
- She has finally started talking more! Though she
still isn’t communicating like many of her friends, she is adding new words every few days and we couldn’t be happier about it! A few new words this month were: up, please, rabbit, shoes, bottle and juice. She has also started to string a few words together – “up please,” “this is shoes,” and “stop it!” to name a few. - She a dipper! She has discovered the joys of ketchup and honey mustard and wants to dip all her food in a condiment. It’s really cute to watch because she’s incredibly dainty about it and only dips a corner J
- She loves shoes – her favorites are her crocs because she can put them on and take them off without help. She definitely has an opinion about what she wears and wants a bow in her hair and shoes on her feet at all times!
- Abby Ruth still LOVES her brother and asks about him all the time (she calls him Doot Doot). It’s sweet to see her kiss and talk to him.
Tripp
Tripp is growing like a weed – he’s up to 14 pounds and wears some 6 month clothes! - Along with continuing to be the HAPPIEST baby I’ve ever seen, he has now started to giggle some – it’s a sound straight from heaven!
- Tripp is now officially a tummy sleeper! He sleeps longer when you put him on his stomach – so this mama is more than willing to let him do it.
- He sleeps for 10-11 hours each night – his bedtime has been moved closer to his sister’s and he is now in bed by 7:30 each night. Usually he sleeps until 5:30 – which is too early in my opinion!

- He eats 5 times a day – nursing 4 and a bottle before bed. I think he takes about 6 ounces per feeding.
- Tripp’s nap schedule is still very flexible – he usually takes long morning and afternnon naps along with a catnap before lunch. Those long naps are a huge blessing for me to rest or get something done around the house.
Easter 2010
This year we traveled to Cincinnati to visit Tom’s family for Easter. Both of his sisters were able to meet us there which was a real treat – it was a great weekend! Both kids traveled pretty well – espescially considering it was such a long drive!
Abby Ruth really struggles to sleep in a strange place and woke up EVERY night that we were there – this was tiring but hopefully she will grow out of it soon. Tripp is at a great age for traveling – he sleeps anywhere and everywhere . We started putting him on his stomach to sleep at night and it worked great – he sleeps soundly and seems much happier.
Abby Ruth had a great time visiting with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins – she is getting to the age where she remembers people and is excited to see them again. I am so happy that she is getting to know both sides of her family – I never had close relationships with my extended family and I want my kids to have a different story.
Because Tripp is so little – he was pretty much just along for the ride on this trip.
His sister however had a GREAT time. The kids had an easter egg hunt and Kim painted Abby Ruth’s toenails for the first time. She sat perfectly still for her aunt and enjoyed showing off her newly painted nails – she is truly ALL GIRL!
Our Easter pictures didn’t work out so well – it’s pretty hard with two small children! Anyway – I thought I should share the pictures of our precious girl in her sweet Easter dress – and our attempt at a family picture too :-)
